With all the constant changes with SalesLogix (CUs, SNCs, Web Updates) as well as changes in Browsers and Operating systems we frequently find that the SalesLogix Implementation Guide is either not updated with the latest information, or could use additional information that covers scenarios when things do not work as documented.

 

So my idea is that the implementation guide or other documents should be hosted online in a more easily updatable format (like a Wiki) so it can actually be kept up to date with the very latest information.

 

If SalesLogix Support encounters a specific issue with say Windows Server 2012 while configuring the Synchronization Job, they could easily add a line to the document that states what a possible fix is to make it work.

 

BPs and Users could also provide additional feedback based on their experience with an issue they encountered during an implementation that would help others if they run into the same issue.

 

I think documentation like this would go a long way in helping everyone resolve commonly found issues.

Hi Anosh, I recommend reviewing our knowledgebase within the customer portal. Documentation is updated for each release and, in between releases, information is posted here regarding any changes, common issues, etc. To get to the knowledgebase, log into the customer portal here: https://crm.saleslogixcloud.com/Customers/ The knowledgebase should be on the left side. SLX 8.1 Icons

Give each exe a different looking icon.  When they are all pinned to the taskbar having them all the same makes it harder to selection the one you want.  Guessing Vs. hoping the mouse hover enlightens you.

WEB - Maintenance functions (e.g. replace data)

The replace data maintenance function was very useful in the LAN client for modifying a lot of data at once based on groups. The function is missing in the WEB client.

Web Configurator for deployments

Not sure how possible or likely this is, however here goes.

 

With the advent of the job server and having just been through a load balanced install utilising an app server for shared components, It would be really great to have a configurator within AA, within this configurator you would state where the SLXServer is located, where the job server is located, where the cache server is located, where the messaging server is located in addition whether you want to use windows authentication or slx authentication.

 

Plumb in all this information and all the relevant *.config files are deployed with the correct settings for the relevant servers and authentication methods.

 

Hacking around in config files with limited or no documentation for specific scenarios in this day and age is archaic.

 

Please provide us with some sort of mechanism to set up the configurations which are deployed to the relevant servers instead of having to mess around in config files.

SLX 8 WEB - display more than 4 calendars

Hi,

 

Our customers would like to display more than 4 calendars. Like it was possible in LAN.

 

Right now you get:

"Sorry, you cannot view more than 4 calendars (including your own) at one time.
Clear one of the currently-selected calendars and try again."

 

Of course at some point you can't display the appointment details anymore.
But just a line of color is enough to see if the user has an appointment or not.

You could always hover over or open it to see the details.

SLX WEB integrated CTI / TAPI support

Hi Everybody

 

Our customers which are switching from LAN to WEB are missing the SLXDialer to call from Saleslogix.

Not all telephone systems support URL calling e.g. like Lync (tel:123456789) that's why something in "the middle" is needed.

 

Are there plans to bring this back?

Automatically open result record

If you search for something in slx and only get one result back, it would be nice to automatically open that record.

This would save the user a click.

And if you make this realy great, you put in an option for this, so each user can enable or disable this feature.

Enhancement to allow the forced re-synchronization of any main entity from Remote Clients and Remote Offices to the Host

 

Can the SalesLogix Synchronization engine be enhanced to allow the SLX Admin to force a re-sync of individual,multiple or all main entities from Remote Clients and Remote Offices back into the Host database?

 

  • Move language setting from Browser setting to SLX user profile setting

Scenario: Customers in Europe want to use one browser to do the following:

  • set their browser to "local" lanaguage, e.g., German >> for genernal web browsing so sites appear in German
  • Log into SLX on same browser and see the "English" SLX translation label set >> as this is the business "language"

 

if you moved the SLX language to user profile setting (that either be set by Admin or via User preferences panel), then the above scenario would be possible. 

LAN: Improve Import Wizard version 8.x

The SalesLogix import wizard (Admin tool, not the lead import tool) is really slow and it would be great if a simple import of 10.000 accounts/contacts could be done faster. The import wizard seems to start fast and is going slower with each new imported record. By the way you could check the localized version, because there is no support for extended characters (e.g. German Umlaut) in filenames and column headers and a lot of labels are truncated.

WEB - Lookup cursor focus option (search field, operator or textbox)

LAN customers are used to, that the lookup cursor is already on the text input field so you can type and hit enter.

But in WEB, when you open the lookup window, the cursor is on the "search for" field. Now you either need to click Tab twice to navigate to the text input field or use the mouse.

 

A user option to configure where the cursor should be (search field, operator or textbox) would be convenient for the user.

WEB - Outlook Go To SLX Button

Our web customers are missing the Go To SLX button in Outlook.

With this button you can save a lot of time navigating to an account/contact.

 

From the technical point of view the button only needs to generate the correct URL and open it in the default browser. Opening in an already open SLX tab/browser is probably not possible. But a long as the login session is valid they should not need to authenticate again.

Configure default operator for lookup properties

Concurrent Licences

When a customer has a concurrent licence there is no way of knowing if a single user is signed in more than once.

 

We would like to see in administrator the count reflecting not only amount of users (concurrent) signed in but a way of seeing if a user is logged in multiple times thus using more than one licence.

 

We have a customer who has this exact problem and if they do get close to using all of their concurrent licence the user count can show incorrectly.

AA - Merge Bundles

Have the ability to "Merge" AA bundles together into one new bundle.  Why?

 

- Customizations get applied to the system in small bundles.  To get to "one" customization bundle (for major upgrades, like to 8.1), have the option to multi-select bundles and generate a brand new bundle with the contents of everything selected (including deleted items).

 

Have a more compact view in slx

We are currently in the process of updating a lot of customers from 7.5.4 to 8.0.

Many of them have a lot of fields on their detail view. What all of them say is, that they need to scroll more in 8.0 than in 7.5.4.

So I would like to see a more compact view mode in slx like we had it in 7.5.4.

This can be an option which every user can enable but it would help them a lot to make their daily work with slx easier.

Recommended Hotfix Guide

I personally would like to see a post here and in the knowledge base that described the all current hotfixes in one document and which are recommended and which are superseded and which are optional or situation specific. I personally found the knowledgebase and the file repository a little difficult to query  and never could get just a list of what I was looking for.  A sticky post which was updated regularly would be nice.

In Exchange link activities synced from non SLX users have the leader set to Admin, this means users cannot edit the activities to set the relevant leader or tie up to the Account\Contact.

 

I would like to see an option in either Exchange Link or Admin where we could define a specific user that should be set as the leader of activities from non SLX users.

 

So in the scenario you are using BI Directional sync for activities in EL, you set the user Lee Hogan to be the leader on activities received from non SLX users.

 

All activities from non SLX users then have Lee Hogan as the leader, we can then use existing functionality so users can edit the activities, set the relevant leader and tie up to the correct Account\Contact.

 

Currently with Admin as the leader of the activities it is unmanageable.

Import word templates into Saleslogix

We often get the question if it is possible to import existing word templates into SalesLogix.

currently this is not possible. You can only do ctrl+a, ctrl+c and ctrl+v.

But this is no solution if you want to keep your formating.

So if you move mail merge to the server, please allow us to import existing word templates.
